Minor PeeWee, 2016-2017 (Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA Minor Hockey Association)

The Grey Bruce Highlanders Minor Peewee team headed into the SCTA Championships confident that they were ready to have their best showing in their history.  After an 8th place finish in the league regular season, the Highlanders were set to play against first place Oakville, second place Niagara North, ninth place Buffalo and tenth place Brampton.

The Minor Peewee Grey Bruce Highlander team has had many successes in the first half of the season.  Gaining their first win, first regular season win, first tournament championship, first two win weekend were some of the tangible successes that had eluded this team in the past. 

In a season of firsts, the Minor Peewee Highlanders entered last weekend knowing that they were close to a breakthrough.  In the regular season, the team were still coming up just a bit short of their goals and playing most games with significant moments of success.  But, putting it together for a full game was still eluding this Highlander group.

Last weekend, the minor peewee team continued their massive improvements and got the results to highlight those improvements.  Travelling to Rochester, NY, the team was ready for a fun filled weekend, bonding by teammates and parents alike and the team was excited to show the Americans how Canadians play the game.

It has been a long time coming but the 2005 Grey Bruce Highlander Team won their first regular season game.
