Road Warriors Earn First Regular Season Win Streak
In a season of firsts, the Minor Peewee Highlanders entered last weekend knowing that they were close to a breakthrough.  In the regular season, the team were still coming up just a bit short of their goals and playing most games with significant moments of success.  But, putting it together for a full game was still eluding this Highlander group.

First of their three in a row on the road were the Hamilton Bulldogs, a team that sits fifth in the division with a record of 9-6-1 and had beaten the Highlanders earlier in the season 6-1.  This time, the Minor Peewees were ready and played Hamilton even for the first period.  The Highlanders got better and better as the game went on and after pressing Hamilton with a strong forcheck the reward came in the form of goals.  After all was said and done, a 5-2 victory for the boys and the excitement was visible throughout the rink.

The second game of the weekend was against a Brampton team that the Highlanders had already defeated twice this season.  The team knew that this Brampton team was continuing to improve and they would not just roll over.  The team came out flying jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead.  As often happens with a 3-0 lead, the team held back for some of the game allowing Brampton to get back into it, but at 3-2, the Minor Peewees held their own and skated off to another win.

The team is really beginning to gel as evidenced by the team’s first win streak ever in the regular season.  Up next, Oakville and Guelph next weekend as the team hopes to keep the win streak going.
