On Sunday September 30th the Waste
Management Minor Bantams played back to back home games with the Buffalo N.Y.
Regals who are new to the circuit this year.
Game one was certainly challenged due to the great number of penalties
handed out on both sides with frustration brewing.
After one period of play Jakob Lee scored the lone goal for the Highlanders with assists going to Will Rickerby and Tristen Park. Period two saw the Regals come back with two of their own to take the lead in this game. With continuing penalty troubles for both teams, the Regals scored two more in the third period to win the first game with a score of 4-1.
The boys went into game two with the prospect of it also being a high penalty game but, it proved to be a decent paced hockey game. Once again the Highlanders opened the scoring in the first period with the goal going to Will Rickerby from Quinton Maddock and Noah Johnson. The Regals came back with three quick goals to end the first period with the lead. The second period was a flurry of action with home team scoring two of their own to tie the game. Goals went to Jakob Lee and Noah Johnson with help from Tristen Park and Logan Swanton. The Regals soon netted another goal to take the lead once again in the game. This was a definitely a hockey game but, not without some drama. Both teams had a goal called back which may have dictated the outcome of this game differently but, the Highlanders were quick to put a goal in the back of the Regals net with certainty to end the second period with a 4-4 hockey game. The tying goal went to Tristen Park with assists from Jordan Taylor and Matthew Epoch.
The third period started with a goal by Noah Johnson from Brady Coburn and Troy Weber to take the lead in the third. The penalties in this period were kept to a minimum which allowed both teams to play an awesome period of hockey. Half way through the third the Regals would score to tie this game back up. The game ended with a score of 5-5. The Minor Bantams should be congratulated on stepping it up in their second game.
We are all wishing coach Rob Lee and the Waste Management Minor Bantams the best of luck in the upcoming tournament in Markham. Work hard boys!
