A Tough Couple of Weeks For Waste Management Minor Bantams
The Waste Management Minor Bantams have had some tough games over the last couple of weekends of regular season play.   Even though they have endured some hard losses they stay true to themselves and their teammates and battle hard to the final buzzer.

On February 9th the Waste Management Minor Bantams played host to Brampton who was not happy that the boys beat them on their home ice the previous weekend.  Grey Bruce was well aware that Brampton was going to come out with the thought of only going home with a win on their mind, and that is what they did.  The Minor Bantams endured a home ice loss with a score of 8-1.  The lone goal for the Highlanders was scored by Troy Weber assisted by Shale Blakey.  This made travelling to Brampton the very next day a little harder pill to swallow.  The Highlanders needed to prove that they could play with the intensity and drive that they were capable of.  On Sunday February 10th in a late afternoon game the Waste Management Minor Bantams fell short to Brampton with a score of 6-3.  Although the score was a sharp poke in the eye for the boys they certainly showed a much better colaberated effort in this game.  Goals in this game were scored by Damien Sutton, Jake Lee and Mike Fiegehan. Assists were awarded to Jake Lee and Josh Urbshott.

After a big week of practices the team was off for a weekend of team bonding and had a fantastic time enjoying some of the simpler joys in life. It was back to business after a nice Family Day holiday weekend.

On Saturday February 23 the Waste Management Minor Bantams played their last home game of the season against the Burlington Eagles.  Where has the season gone?????  What a way to end the home game schedule with a wonderful win with a score of 4-1.  With Will Rickerby sitting, Damien Sutton injured and our man Dalton Black out with an injury as well they were the teams biggest fans~!  With a line short the Highlanders welcomed Brayden Thompson AP to play up with the team for the weekend schedule.  Goals were scored by Jordan Taylor (2), Jake Lee and Troy Weber.  The assists were awarded to Mike Fiegehan (2), Shale Blakey and Jake Lee.
Great Job boys~!

On Sunday February 24th the team was off to St. Catharines for a double header against Niagara North.  After 3 periods of play the Highlanders had a 3rd period melt down and lost to Niagara with a score of 7-4 despite having the lead.  Goals in this game were scored by Will Rickerby, Brayden Thompson, Noah Johnson and Jordan Taylor.  Assists were awarded to Mike Fiegehan, Noah Johnson, Quinton Maddock, Brayden Thompson, Jake Lee and Josh Urbshott. Game two would see the Highlanders having to prove themselves to replace their 2 point loss.
Game two of the double header saw the Highlanders up after 2 periods with a wonderful lead but, the third period would once again see the Niagara North team come on hard scoring 5 goals to win the game and the day.   With a final score of 6-4 the Highlanders were left speachless after this tough game with a very large and fast Niagara North team.  Goals for the Highlanders were scored by Danny Skinner, Jake Lee (2) and Jordan Taylor.  The Assists were awarded to Noah Johnson (2), Logan Swanton (2) and Josh Urbshott.

With one game left on the schedule in Oakville on Thursday February 28th the Waste Management Minor Bantams will take all their hard work from this season and start to prepare for the SCTA's year tournament to be held in Owen Sound on March 8th, 9th and 10th.  This will be a fantastic weekend of hockey for all you hockey fans and we are hoping you will come out an show your support. This will be the weekend where all the teams try to climb the ladder.

~Go Highlanders Go~
