A Weekend on the Road for the Bantams
Written by Leanne West.

The Biermans Bantams traveled to Brampton on Saturday to battle their hosts, the 45s. The outcome of the game wouldn’t reflect the shots on net…

as the Grey Bruce boys would out-shoot their opponents 23-21. Scoring early in the game, Brampton would take the lead. Coming back for a tie, Jordan Caskenette (Owen Sound) would find the back of the net without hesitation on a nice set up pass by Justin Donnelly (Pinkerton) from the corner. Shortly before the 2/3 flood the 45s would find the net again to take their second one goal lead. The remainder of the game would see battle in both directions. As a last effort to tie the game, goalie Tristen Lewis would leave his posts for an extra attacker, but Brampton would take advantage of the opportunity and seal the game at 3-1.

Game #2 of the weekend would keep the fans stimulated, as the Biermans boys would put the Hamilton Bulldogs to the test. Period one would see the Bulldog hosts take a 2-0 lead on the Highlanders, but the game would take a turn around as Hayden Duplantis (Saugeen Shores) would take it to the net with persistence, and backhand one in on a pass from Collin Zettler (Walkerton) to tighten the score. To keep things interesting Devin Perdue (Hanover) would apply more pressure at the net with some puck-moving help from his line mates Brady Becker (Durham) and Cole Hodgins (Mount Forest) to tie the game.

Not happy with these results, the Bulldogs would take two more bites and send the Highlanders into intermission down 4-2. Digging deep in the 3rd, the Grey Bruce squad would put the Dog’s netminder to test as Brent West (Shallow Lake) would put one under the bar from passes of Becker and Eric Langridge (Saugeen Shores) at the hash mark.

Not finished with the Dogs yet, Perdue would find the top corner of the net with a beauty game tying goal at the 7:23 mark (unassisted). The game would continue to see both ends of the rink with Grey Bruce goalie Jason Goes (Cookstown) playing a hot game between the pipes saving 26 Bulldog shots. The Highlanders would travel home with a one point game on a 4-4 tie.

Next weekend the Biermans team will host the Burlington Eagles in Flesherton and will travel to Halton to visit the Hurricanes.
