Minor PeeWees Take On Niagara
Game 1

Coming off a HUGE win over the first place Guelph Storm the Power Workers’ Union Minor PeeWees were looking to extend their winning streak with a win over the Niagara Rivermen. The boys came out hard and controlled the play early, getting some great scoring opportunities. With the Highlanders taking over the game with the fore-check they were rewarded when Dawson Fahrer kept control of the puck and got it behind the net to Nathan Ahrens who passed it out front to Cam Lightfoot who buried his shot to give the boys a 1-0 lead.

Niagara would tie it up but the Highlanders would take the lead again, on the power play when Mark Aljoe slammed one home assisted by Josh Lorenz. With time winding down in the period the Rivermen would tie the game again. The game continued its back and forth pattern when the Highlanders capitalized on the power play again when Tyson Hutcheson bulged the twine with Jayce Busby picking up the helper. This was a lead the boys could not hold as Niagara scored the next two goals to go on to a 4-3 win. The Highlanders deserved a better fate in this game but will have to play hard to win the next game of the doubleheader. Good Luck Boys!

Game 2

Highlanders Send Niagara Up A River Without A Paddle!

The Power Workers’ Union Minor PeeWee hockey team had a bitter taste in their mouth after game one against Niagara Falls. With a great lunch in between games the boys had revenge on their minds looking to win the second game of the doubleheader. This was a game right from the start that you knew the Highlanders were going to win. Tyson Lina got the ball rolling when he slid the puck past the goalie on a breakaway with Mark Aljoe and Nathan Ahrens getting the assists. Aljoe would add to the lead when buried a backhander through the goalies legs to go up by two. Grey Bruce would score again when Will Black passed the puck out front and Cam Lightfoot banged it home giving the boys a three goal lead, Johnny Pickett picked up the other assist. With the Rivermen trying to stay above water it was the Highlanders who kept the pressure on and Mark Aljoe found the back of the net with Tyson Hutcheson and Josh Lorenz getting the helpers. Niagara would score two of their own but Pickett would roof a backhander to open the flood gates, Lightfoot assisting. Cam Lightfoot would round out the scoring when he finished off a nice passing play with Nathan Ahrens and Dawson Fahrer. Matthew Donnelly made several nice saves in getting the win. The SCTA is starting to hear footsteps..... The Minor PeeWee Highlanders are coming!!! WAY TO GO BOYS! Make the final 6-2!
