Minor PeeWee, 2012-2013 (Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA Minor Hockey Association)

Game 1 SCTA Playdowns      On Friday March 15th the Power Workers’ Union Minor PeeWee team took on the mighty flying Eagles of Burlington. The determined Highlanders of Grey Bruce came with their game face on and ready to leave it all on the line, as they knew the accumulation of all this year’s games and hard work at practices all comes down to this weekend

     In the first game of the doubleheader against Niagara North, the Power Workers' Minor Peewees were looking for a big win. The boys came out hard and determined and we re rewarded when Mark Aljoe bulged the twine with Jonny Pickett and Josh Lorenz picking up the assists. With the game going back and forth with many momentum changes the good guys would score again when Dawson Fahrer buried one on a good pass from Cam Lightfoot.

    In was our final game against the Oakville Rangers; the only question was could Corey's Tree Cutter Minor PeeWee Highlanders befall the might Oaks. The game did not start well as Grey Bruce took a penalty at the one-minute mark of the first period. With lots of energy and good positional play and fantastic saves by goaltender Matthew Donnelly, the score remained deadlocked at zero. After exchanging chances at both end of the ice, Oakville finally got on the scoreboard at 5:35 of the first period, which is how the period ended.

     After a great potluck lunch put on by the Buffalo team the Corey’s Tree Cutting Minor PeeWee Highlanders were looking for revenge in game number 2.  With such a long break between games, the boys came out sluggish and found themselves down by 3 in the hockey game. 

    The Power Workers’ Union Minor PeeWee’s hosted the Burlington Eagles Sunday February 10.  The first period saw back and forth action from both teams which resulted in a scoreless but entertaining first period. Shots were 7-2 against.
