Scandinave Minor PeeWees Battle With Jr. Battalion
The Scandinave Minor PeeWees were back home last Sunday for a matinee affair with the visiting Brampton Jr. Battalion. The Highlander troops were anxious to avenge an early season loss back in September.

The minor PeeWees came out of the gate with some extra jump in their stride and took an early 1-0 lead in the contest as they headed into the second frame. The Battalion responded quickly and tied the game early in the period. The Jr. Battalion continued to press and added 2 more goals to take a 3-1 lead. The young Highlander squad never gave up and some hard work provided the boys with a second period goal that reduced the margin to 1. The Chesley arena exploded with joy when it appeared that the team had tied the goal on a breakaway. The referee quickly waived off the goal and awarded the Highlanders a penalty shot. The call on the ice was that "the net was off it's moorings before the puck crossed the line". Dang!!
On the penalty shot, the skilled forward fired a missile just over the crossbar and the score remained 3-2. Still full of determination, the bench pulled the goalie for an extra attacker with under a minute remaining. There was a flurry of action around the Battalion tender. It was not meant to be on this day as the visitors slid one into the empty net to walk away with a 4-2 victory.
The game marked the return of goalie Malachi Albrecht from an undisclosed "lower body injury". He looked sharp in net and was forced to make several key saves throughout the contest. Welcome back!
The team will have to rally quickly as they travel to Oakville on Saturday to tackle with the league leading Oakville Rangers. The Rangers are the stingiest team in the SCTA and have allowed the fewest goals up to this point in the regular season. This will be a great opportunity for our boys to start putting some pucks behind the opposing goalie. Remember guys, Santa will be watching to see if you really deserve that new "Easton Stealth RS" for Christmas!!
See you in Oakville!
