Scandinave Minor Peewees In Tough Against Storm and Battalion
The Savandinave Minor Peewees were back on the road this past weekend as they cruised into Guelph to tackle with the 3rd place Storm. In their first regular season game of the year, the Highlanders salvaged a point to start the year off on a promising note.

The boys came out firing on all cylinders as they grabbed an early lead on the Storm. Connor Roberts sniped one "Bar Down" to give the boys a 1-0 lead. Hayden Coulter collected the helper. The Storm would respond with a goal of their own to even the affair. Not to be outdone, Mr. Roberts collected his second goal of the game on a powerful shot to give the boys a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. Hayden Coulter picked up his second assist on the play. With ten minutes remaining in the contest, it looked as though victory was in sight. The Storm would have none of that. They applied the pressure and pounded the Highlander net with several excellent scoring chances. Tender Lucas Pfeil played one of his strongest games of the year as the opposition was relentlessin nthier attempt to take the lead. In the end, the boys surrendered 2 third period goals and fell 3-2 to the talented Storm squad.
On Sunday afternoon, the Highlanders hosted the Brampton Battalion back at their home rink in Chesley. This was a crucial game for the boys as they looked to narrow the gap between them and Brampton in the SCTA standings. The game provided an abundance of scoring opportunities for both teams. The first period ended in a draw as both teams buried one goal. Connor Roberts had the lone marker of the game for the Highlanders. Linemate Hayden Coulter collected the helper. As they headed into the third frame, the boys were down by a count of 2-1. The forwards couldn't seem to jam one past the Brampton netminder or get a lucky bounce. At the other end, Malachi Albrecht was solid between the pipes and made some acrobatic stops as the opposition was relentless in their attempt to increase their lead. When it was said and done, the visitors boarded the bus with 2 points in their pockets after a 2-1 win. The Highlander squad will now prepare for their upcoming tournament this weekend in Lindsay. This will be an excellent opportunity for the boys to demonstrate how much they have improved since the start of the season.
