Scandinave Minor PeeWees Cruise Down QEW To Tangle With The River
The Scandinave Minor PeeWees traveled to Niagara Falls Saturday morning for a return double header with the Niagara Rivermen. A few weeks earlier, the same Niagara squad invaded the Chesley area where the 2 teams each walked away with 2 points.
The Highlanders were looking for a pair(Of Wins...Not Aces!) on this recent journey to Casino ville. In game #1 the boys looked sharp coming out of the gate and the first part of the period was spent in the Rivermen end of the ice. The boys had several glorious scoring opportunities but they could not sneak one past the stingy Niagara tender. Before you could say "Hit Me", the Rivermen caught a few lucky bounces and the score was 4-0 for the opposition. Just didn't seem right! Going into the third, the boys persevered and finally put 2 pucks behind the goal line. It was a little too late but give credit to the team for not "folding". Final score: Niagara 6-Highlanders 2.
Determined to go home with a split, the Highlanders played a steady game and both teams had some excellent scoring chances through the first 2 frames. It was anybody's game headed into the third considering it was a 1-1 draw after 2 periods. Once again, the boys ran into a hot goalie and there would not be any more goals on the game sheet for the visiting squad on this day. Final score: Niagara 4-Highlanders 1.
The Scandinave team would like to give a big "Thank You" to Aidan Quish and family for making the journey to Niagara Falls on Saturday. Aidan was very sharp in net and the boys enjoyed his company. After the game, the team loaded up on some delicious chocolate milk courtesy of Corrina Knopp from GayLea Foods. Thanks Corrina! We hope there is "mooore" where that came from!
