Scandinave PeeWees Due Battle With Undefeated Oakville Rangers
On yet another beautiful fall day in Chesley Ontario, the Highlander faithful gathered at the rink to see if the Scandinave PeeWees could slow down the Ranger juggernaut. The Oakville team, backed by probably the largest goaltender in the league, had the best goals against average in the SCTA heading into Sunday's contest.

The young Highlander squad looked confident in the first 2 periods and there was some terrific action at both ends of the rink. With time winding down in the second period, the Rangers notched their first goal on a pretty 3 way passing play. Just as the period was winding down, Oakville potted another one and the visiting squad took a 2-0 lead into the third frame.
The boys seemed somewhat deflated and came out flat in the third. Despite 4 excellent practices during the week, the Highlanders could not keep up with the quick pace and the intense forechecking that the Rangers employed in the last 15 minutes. The boys will have to learn to compete for all 3 periods if they want to be competitive with the big dogs in the league. Give the Rangers full marks for the victory. They peppered 16 shots alone in the third period and netted 2 more goals to seal the 4-0 victory. Malachi was solid in net throughout the contest as the Oakville squad outshot our boys 28-16.
The team travels to Niagara Falls Saturday for an afternoon double header with the Rivermen. The last time the 2 teams locked horns, the Highlanders took 3 out of a possible 4 points from the visitors. We will be looking for the sweep this weekend boys! Drive safley!
