Scandinave Minor PeeWees Split Sunday Series With Rivermen
The Scandinave Minor PeeWees were back in action in Chesley Sunday afternoon to entertain the Niagara Rivermen in a matinee double header. The Highlander squad secured their first victory of the regular season in a convincing fashion in game #2.

In game #1, the boys looked rather lethargic. It was if they had consumed the leftover turkey from Thanksgiving last weekend prior to the game. The team fell behind in the first and trailed throughout the contest. Connor Roberts scored to cut the lead to 1 goal after his bullet to the top corner. Jamie Damignani and Sean O'Donnell collected the assists. The Rivermen took a 3-1 lead late into the third. Once again, solid netminding from Malachi Albrecht provided a spark for the squad as Carter Buehlow scored to close the gap to 1 goal. Hayden Coulter chipped in with the assist. Unfortunately, the boys ran out of both speed and time. Final score: Rivermen 3-Highlanders 2.
With a few hours to kill before the next tilt, the team huddled together in the community center to rehydrate, fuel up on some nutritious fruits and vegetables and bond a bit. This strategy obviously paid off. A different Highlander squad took to the ice in game #2 and collectively, they determined the fate of the game early on. Carter Buehlow opened the flood gates early and the boys never looked back. Trevor Donaldson and Leif McFadden registered the assists. Matthew Bogenreider set up Hayden Coulter for the second goal as the team looked poised to earn their first regular season victory. Lucas Pfeil was solid in net and he did not give the Rivermen an opportunity to sneak back into the contest. Carter Buehlow added another goal in the third and Connor Roberts cashed in with 2 goals of his own. Leif McFadden tallied 2 more helpers in the game while singles went to Justin Marlowe and Carter Buehlow. The team surrendered 2 late goals but still pulled off the 5-2 victory. After it was all said and done, the team earned 3 crucial points during this 2 day homestand. A great way to spend a weekend in October wouldn't you say? Looks like a light week ahead. Only 4 practices!! Keep up the good work men!
