IS THIS GROUND HOG MONTH?
It was more of the same 'ol same 'ol as the First Concrete Ltd. Bantams dropped two more games in weekend action and remain winless in league play.

Scoring remains an issue with this bunch as they look to break into the win column and Saturday was no different as the Bantams hosted Hamilton at the Palace in Flesherton.  Despite strong play 5 on 5 the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on two power play opportunities in the first and second to build a 2 - 0 lead.  Despite peppering the opponent in the third period, the Highlanders were unable to bang anything in and the game ended at 2 - 0 for Hamilton.  Still, strong defensive play was a positive to build on!

On Sunday the anemic offense was again at the forefront as the Highlanders only managed to muster 12 shots on goal.  Guelph was able to jump out to an early 1 -0 lead on a goal mouth scramble that eluded a sprawling Cam Plante.  The second period saw a little more jump for the visiting Highlanders and they managed to even the game at 1 for a few moments.  Unfortunately, breaks don't usually go the way of the team that needs them most and the goal was called off for an unknown reason.  Showing great resolve the Bantams quickly rebounded with another goal as Damien Sutton scored on a wraparound with assists to Ben Tupker and Jordan Taylor.  Guelph was not about to hand over the momentum and responded with two more goals to finish the second period up 3-1.

The third saw the Highlanders given a number of power play opportunities but were unable to finish until Jakob Lee stepped out of the corner and slid the puck home with assists to Zach Tupker and Damien Sutton.  That was as close as the First Concrete Ltd. Bantams would come as they dropped another game 3 - 2.

Here's hoping the boys find their scoring touch as they travel to Markham this weekend to compete at the Markham Majors tournament.
