Highlanders End Pre-Season with a Whimper
written by:  The Trainer

After a very successful season last year this years Minor Bantam Grey Bruce Highlanders were gearing up for another exciting year. The returning major peewee team had two new members and were anxious to build upon last years success. How did the pre season go?

Well, let me start off with two horse definitions.

First , the Clydesdale: A strong and capable horse. A tall specimen, black and grey in colour with significant white markings. A horse originally used for agriculture and haulage. During WW1 they were instrumental in assisting the British Cavalry. This was a horse that shows power and quality. You might have seen them as part of the "Budweiser Clydesdales" a strong and beautiful horse that would let nothing stand in their way.

The Donkey: A member of the horse family. Primarily used in the developed world for breeding and as pets. Docile and also stubborn. Doesn’t listen, and also prone to pass the puck to members of the other team. Won’t hit or take a check to make a play. Will show a few moments of brilliance and then goes back to being a donkey.

While the Grey Bruce Highlanders finished last season looking like Clydesdales, the jury is still out on how the pre season schedule went with the Black and White closing out the session with an 0 and 4 record and only few goals scored. Grey Bruce Minor Bantams should have 3 Clydesdale lines this year. The first line of two and a half men has size and determination. The trailer park boys line shows finesse and speed. The newbie line has something to prove and by all indications so far they will be a scoring machine.

Are we worried, nah, the real season starts next weekend against Niagara North. Injuries and suspensions will result in a short bench for the doubleheader Saturday but the horses will be ready. I guarantee it.
