The end of November didn't fare much better ..
Written by Lori Adams -
The Atom team played on home ice to the St. Catharines squad
and came out with a tie. The first goal was scored by Patrick Brown (Mount
Forest), assisted by Travis Verbeek (Flesherton) and Verbeek potting the second
goal. A few hours later the teams
matched up again and unfortunately St. Catharines took the lead in the end and
finished the game 2-1. Verbeek was
the lone goal of the game for the Highlanders squad.
The following weekend the Highlanders headed to St. Catharines for a Saturday afternoon of penalty killing! The team played most of the double header shorthanded; however, they only lost by one goal in each game. Carson Yost (Chatsworth) netted a great pass from Calvin Stewart (Chatsworth) and Verbeek scored an unassisted goal in the first game. Game two saw Yost tip a nice shot from Jack Dupont (Collingwood). Verbeek took an awesome pass from Ray Hou (Port Elgin) to add another and Matt Grootendorst (Flesherton) tipped another past the goalie, also from Dupont.
Good luck in Guelph on Saturday!
