Atoms have a very close game against Oakville
Written by Lori Adams -
The guys put on a great performance on Saturday, travelling
to Oakville for their first match up this season.
Not even a minute into the game Ryan Colquhoun (Hanover) snuck one by the goalie with a little help from Austin Waite (Chatsworth) and Matt Grootendorst (Flesherton)! With the coaches switching up the lines a little, and a defenseman missing this game the guys had a few challenges to work through. The period ended with Oakville up 2-1.
The second period there were a couple of goals scored, the first by Mason Watt (Collingwood) netted a nice goal assisted by Patrick Brown. The second (the number on the game sheet doesn’t match any of our players!) however, Grootendorst and Jack Dupont (Collingwood) were the helpers with this goal to bring them to a 3-2 lead at the end of two. With only a few minutes left on the clock Oakville tied the game, unfortunately with little time left on the clock Oakville made a player change and he received a stretch pass to pot the winning goal. The squad fought hard but just couldn’t get the puck in the net to tie up the game and took a 4-3 loss.
