Atom, 2013-2014 (Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA Minor Hockey Association)

Written by Lori Adams -  The Atom’s closed 2013 with a tournament in Burlington between Christmas and New Year’s...the guys played very well against Niagara North, Ajax/Pickering, Peterborough and Mississauga.  Ryan Colquhoun (Hanover) netted two over the weekend, Travis Verbeek (Flesherton) with one and Ray Hou (Port Elgin) also chalked one up.  Ray, Jaeden French (Collingwood) and Aiden Ferrier (Durham) received assists on these goals.

Written by Lori Adams -  The Atom team played on home ice to the St. Catharines squad and came out with a tie. The first goal was scored by Patrick Brown (Mount Forest), assisted by Travis Verbeek (Flesherton) and Verbeek potting the second goal.  A few hours later the teams matched up again and unfortunately St. Catharines took the lead in the end and finished the game 2-1.  Verbeek was the lone goal of the game for the Highlanders squad.

Written by Lori Adams  - The team has played four different centres so far this month and unfortunately has not come out with a win.  Travis Verbeek (Flesherton) scored our only goal against Halton, with Carson Yost (Chatsworth) and Will Adams (Meaford) picking up the assists.  The game against Guelph also ended with one goal for the team, Calvin Stewart (Chatsworth) tipped a shot from Adams.

Written by Lori Adams  - The team met up at the Activa Centre in Kitchener against the North Bay Trappers for a noon game on Friday.  The game was close with Spencer Maddock (Owen Sound) shooting from the blue line with a pass from Jack Dupont (Collingwood) to make it a 1-0 game.  The Trappers were not long to catch up, and later in the game Travis Verbeek (Flesherton) had a great goal assisted by Ryan Colqhoun (Hanover). The guys played a great game; unfortunately the Trappers got one up on the Atom team and ended the game 3-2.
