Strong finish for Grey-Bruce Highlander Peewees
The Grey-Bruce Highlander Peewees, sponsored by Dan Rear Lawn Service, ended their season on a silver note as runners up of the Goderich Lions Young Canada Hockey Tournament held March 14 and 15.

After giving up the first goal to the Lakers, the Highlanders replied with three of their own to win the game 3-1. Lachlin Elder, Billy Kelly and Mitch Betts scored for Grey-Bruce with assists going to Elder (2), Zach Coulter, Ryan Hamelin and Tanner Mighton.
Later that day, the Highlanders faced off against
Kitchener and battled to a 2-2 stale-mate. Brandon Eagles (Kelly, Elder) and Kory Brady (Coulter, Connor Patton) netted second period goals for the Highlanders.

Competition continued to be fierce the next morning when Grey-Bruce suited up for a contest against
Cambridge. After trading goals, Kelly, assisted by Brady, fired one in to give the Highlanders the advantage. Cambridge replied with two of their own and defended the lead until Mighton scored the equalizer for the Highlanders with less than a second left on the clock. Patton and Jordan Rear combined for the other Grey-Bruce marker.
This record of two ties and a win proved adequate to launch the Highlanders into the championship game where they once again faced
Kitchener.

After falling behind 3-0 by second half of the final period, Grey-Bruce kicked themselves into gear with goals by Mighton, assisted by Kelly and Patton, and Patton, assisted by Hamelin and Mighton. This late game rally fell just short and the game ended 4-2 in favour of
Kitchener.

Congratulations go out to the team and coaching staff on a fine season.
