Submitted By Taralee Elzinga on Monday, September 10, 2018
Wow – what a weekend! The team was ready to play and play they did. 30 teams divided into 6 divisions with just the 1st and 2nd place team of each division moving onto the Sunday games.

The weekend started off with the Peewee Highlanders facing the Vaughan Kings. The physical and fast paced game ended with the Peewees taking the win 3-2. That was just the beginning!
Game 2 had the Peewees facing the challenging Chicago Fury. Aptly named, this team played with even greater speed and intensity. The game flashed by and ended with a 2-2 tie.
Early Saturday morning, the Peewees were the first team at the rink. They met up with the Richmond Hill Coyotes, who got the best of the boys, leaving them with their first loss of the tournament.

In an exciting finish, and tournament upset, the Highlanders won against this 1st place team 3-2, handing the Rebs their first tournament loss.
The Highlanders round robin record of 2-1-1 placed them 2nd in their division and earned them a place in the consolation semi-finals.
On Sunday morning, the Peewee Highlanders played another end to end game against the York Simcoe Express. Action packed and fast paced the game ended with the Highlanders winning 3-1 and moving onto the consolation finals.
The 6th and final game had the Highlanders facing the tournament host team the Toronto Redwings. Our Peewee boys were certainly able to keep pace with this team. However, the game ended in a 5-1 loss, naming our Peewees finalists and the Redwings the Consolation champs.
The Highlander Peewees played with grit and determination and never backed down. This is just the beginning…
