Highlander Midgets Play in SCTA All-Star Game
Each Season various OMHA organizations host All–Star games to showcase some of their top prospects.  This past weekend four Grey Bruce Highlanders competed in the annual SCTA Midget All-Star game hosted this year by the Niagara Falls Rivermen.

Forwards Kyle Betts, Ethan Skinner and Ben Van Ooteghem and defenseman Robert White were selected by their Highlander teammates and coaches to compete for the Central Division (i.e. Brampton, Oakville, Halton, Guelph and Grey Bruce) as they took on the Southern Division (i.e. Niagara Falls, Niagara North, Hamilton, and Burlington) entry.

The Highlander contingent competed very well in a game where the crowd was treated to some very fast, skilled and exciting hockey.  Unfortunately, the Southern Division emerged as the winners outscoring the Central Division 5-3.  The Southern Division strategy to keep teammates together as much as possible appeared to be more successful than the Central Division strategy to mix things up and spread teammates across four lines.

Following the game, Highlanders Ethan Skinner and Ben Van Ooteghem were invited to play for the SCTA All-Stars when they take on the ETA All-Stars in the upcoming OMHA Midget All-Star game.  This event is scheduled to take place during the upcoming Minor Midget Showcase Weekend.

Good Luck Ben and Ethan.
