Atom, 2012-2013 (Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA Minor Hockey Association)

This past weekend, the Highlander Atoms travelled to Grimsby to represent Grey and Bruce Counties in the league tournament to determine which teams would advance to the OMHA finals. What a weekend it was. The boys would lose just one game over the tournament while just missing the opportunity to advance. However, the games were as thrilling and close as any hockey I have seen.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon the Chapman’s Ice Cream Major Atoms were at home taking on the powerful Oakville Rangers. The Rangers have only been defeated once this season and in the three previous meetings, they controlled large portions of each game. Lately, the Atoms have been playing ok; however the intensity level seems to have been lacking a little. Today though, everyone brought their best effort and for most of this game, the Highlanders were the dominate team.

The Chapman’s Ice Cream Atom Highlanders took the 410 to Brampton for their fourth and final meeting of the regular season with the 45’s. With the 45’s up 2 games to 1 in regular season play, the Highlander Warriors were eager to even things up. 

On Saturday, the Major Atoms travelled to Burlington to take on the Eagles. This Atom team stacks up very well with Burlington. In two previous meetings, both games ended in a tie.

As the flu slowly attacks its way through this team, the Highlanders knew the battle on the ice must go on. Chapman's Ice Cream Major Atoms were home in Chesley for three games this past weekend against teams ahead of them in the standings and who had beat them earlier in the year.
