Superior Midgets Weather Storm, but Get Swarmed By Eagles
Entering a busy month of December the Highlanders first game of the month was against the Guelph Jr Storm on Saturday Dec 5th.

And Storm the Guelph squad is exactly what the Superior Road Product Midgets did.  From the puck drop the Highlanders were all over the Storm, and took the lead less than two minutes into the game on a goal by Smith.  Thomson found the net on the power play a couple of minutes later to give the Highlanders a rare 2-0 lead.  The Storm struck early in the second on the power play, but the Highlanders kept up their attack througout the period and were rewarded twice more in the second with Ackerland and Smith scoring.  A great feeling going into the break with a comfortable 4-1 lead and the Highlanders weren't going to give it up.  Duncan found the net halfway through the final period on the power play and then Lindner again on the power play less than a minute later pretty much took the wind out the Storm.  But before the game was over the Storm caught the Highlanders napping and scored an ugly shorthanded goal, and another following to bring them within 3.  Thankfully the boys woke up and played hard to the end to get this well deserved win, one of their best games to date.  Kudos to tender Wilken for backstopping the boys to this win.

The Superior Midgets second game of the weekend, their first match vs the Burlington Eagles was not as much fun.  Grey Bruce looked good early on and scored first.  Burlington scored once in the first to make it even after one.  The Eagles scored two in the second before the Superior Midgets responded with one when a sharp shot by Oehm beat the Eagles tender. Before the game was over the Eagles would score four more unanswered goals for a disappointing 7-2 loss for the Superior Midgets.  Let's get over it quick and move forward into the Waterloo Tournament...you've seen how good you can be boys, now you just need to bring it to EVERY game!

Scoring Summary:
vs Guelph
Smith from Walsh, Thomson from Sguigna & Newton (PP), Ackerland from Duncan, Smith from Lowe and Newton, Duncan unassisted (PP), Lindner from Carroll & Sguigna (PP)
vs Burlington
Sguigna from Thomson & Lindner, Oehm from Haylow and Ackerland
