Superior Midgets Wrap Up Regular Season
The Superior Road Midgets completed their 36 game regular season today.

The last three games of the season were all exciting matches with the team playing well in preparation for their year end SCTA qualifying tournament in Oakville March 12-14th.

Meeting Brampton for a final time on Feb 27 the team was looking to redeem their last dismal meeting with the Batallion, and they did just that.  Brampton had the 2-0 lead after the first, and took the lead into the third after a fast paced scoreless second period.  The Midgets played a hard third netting two power play goals in the period to tie the game.  Lots of opportunities presented themselves for the go ahead goal, but the game ended in a tie.

Facing the Burlington Eagles in the last two games of the season, the first on Gold Medal Sunday Feb 27th in Burlington.  A very fast game was played (with everyone wanting to catch Canada winning gold) and again the Highlanders put together great game.  Scoreless after one, and tied at 2 goals a piece after the second, both teams worked hard to get the game winner.  The Eagles finally put one past tender Craddock with 3:52 remaining on the clock, and the Highlanders went all out to even the score before the final buzzer, but couldn't get the puck past the Eagle goalie...final score 3-2.

Final game on March 6th in Chesley, the Highlanders led 2-0 on two power play goals after the first a position they have not been in very often this season.  Scoring another in the third and leading 3-0, the Eagles began to chip away at the lead.  A power play goal at the 6 minute mark and another late in the period had diminished the Highlander lead to 1.  After the break Burlington scored 40 seconds into the remaining period to tie the game.  The Eagles went ahead with 6 minutes remaining, and once again the Highlanders found themselves looking for a tying goal.  Pulling the goalie for the extra attacker they let the puck get away from them, and Burlington took the opportunity to put the puck in the empty net for a 5-3 final.

Awesome tending Grant & Steve! Way to finally get the power play working team. Keep it up boys, the time to peak is finally here. One final weekend and anything can happen if you BELIEVE it can! This it it, the last kick at the can....If you wanna be a star, and you wanna go to the OMHA Championships then you have to BRING IT!...don't leave it at home, pack your bag and show up in Oakville to PLAY HARD & GIVE IT ALL YOU HAVE GOT!

The schedule and results from the SCTA Midget Qualifying tournament will be posted as they are available.  Full tournament results can be found on the OMHA website.  All tournament games will be played at the Joshua Creek Arena in Oakville.
