Superior Midgets Show Better Effort, Suffer Same Result
The Superior Midgets were hoping for a win in their final game of the month, but despite a much better effort, they did not acheive their goal.

Meeting the St Catharines Falcons for the third time this season, the fans knew it would be a good close game and they weren't disappointed.  The Highlanders pressured early and scored first at the 14:14 mark with Haylow finding the back of the net.  The Falcons answered with two goals before the period ended, their second a flukely one, but they all count.  A shorthanded breakaway goal by Thomson early in the second sparked the boys, but they were plagued with penalty trouble throughout the second period.  Kudos to the penalty kill teams who worked hard to keep the Falcons from capitalizing during their many advantages.  Unfortunately the odds were against the Highlanders and only 30 seconds into the third the Falcons took the lead on a power play.  A fourth goal by the Falcons halfway through the period put them ahead by two.  But our boys never gave up and kept up the pressure.  Their efforts paid off with a third goal on the power play when Smith's shot beat the Falcons tender with 1:39 left to play. Putting on the rally caps, and giving their all to get a last tying goal, tender Craddock took a seat on the bench in favour of an extra attacker, but a clearing shot by the Falcons found the empty net and that was all she wrote...final 5-3 Falcons.  Overall a much better effort from the Highlander squad...keep at boys, practice hard and your time will come.
Scoring Summary: Haylow from Crawford, Thomson (SH) unassisted and Smith (PP) from Ackerland and Haylow.

The Superior Midgets head into a busy December now with 6 league games before Christmas, the Waterloo Gold Puck tournament Dec 11-13th and the Burlington Horsehoe tournament Dec 27-30th.  Next weekend the Highlanders will meet Guelph in Chesley for the second time this season, and get aquainted with the Burlington Eagles in Burlington for their first match of this season.
