Superior Midgets Face Top & Bottom Squads
The Superior Road Product Midgets faced the top place Hamilton Bulldogs and the bottom dwelling Niagara Falls Canucks this weekend, but only managed a single point.

An early afternoon game on a beautiful fall Saturday in Chesley with our man Sam finally back in the line up it was looking like a great day for hockey. The Bulldogs took the early lead 2 & 1/2 minutes into the period.  Our Highlander midgets seemed a little non-inspired on this sunny day and Hamilton capitalized again with a lucky shorthanded goal to put them ahead 2-0.  Hamilton continued their scoring ways getting another less than a minute into the second during some 4 on 4 play.  Our midgets finally put the puck behind the Bulldog tender on the powerplay.  This goal seemed to wake up the team and they were able to create some more scoring opportunities but were not able to capitilize before Hamilton scored again midway through the period.  After the break the Highlanders came out ready to play but despite the fine goaltending, outplaying the Bulldogs in the third and creating some very good scoring opportunities were only able to score one final time for a 4-2 loss....so close and yet so far boys...

Another beautiful fall day on the road in Niagara Falls on Sunday, it was our Highlanders turn to take the early lead. The team was looking much more like the team they can be, winning races to the puck and playing much tougher defensively paid off with a power play goal early in the second to give them a 2-0 lead...And how quickly things can change...Niagara Falls caught the Highlanders napping and scored 3 unanswered goals to finish the period.  The Highlanders played catch up from there with the Canucks tender seeming to be everywhere the puck was, and left our midgets searching for a way to beat him.  A short hard shot from Ackerland finally squeezed through his five hole with 3:19 left in the game.  Both teams put forth an effort to get the full points for this game, but a tie it was to be...

The Superior Midget Highlanders send their best wishes to young fan Brittany Haylow....
