The Douglas Cleaner Highlander Midgets went 2-0-2 this weekend in the Waterloo Gold Puck Tournament with wins against Huron-Perth Lakers and Markham Waxers and tied the Brantford 99'ers and Ottawa Jr. 67's.
On Friday in Waterloo, the Highlanders started with a great game against the future tournament's finalist Ottawa Jr. 67's with a 0-0 tie. Robbie Alsop was outstanding in Highlander's net. Later that day the Highlanders won 4-3 against the Huron Perth Lakers. The Highlanders goals were scored by Jake Weidner (2), Wade Mackey and Josh Steffler. On Saturday, the Highlanders started with a 2-2 against Brantford. The Highlanders goals were scored by Blake Forslund and Jake Weidner. The second game the day was against the Markham Waxers and the Highlanders out lasted them to a 9-6 win. The Highlanders goals were scored by Jesse Jameson (2), John Doyle (2), David Jones, Jake Weidner, Joey Terwoord, Blake Forslund and Josh Sguigna.
