Former Highlander accepts Scholarship
Submitted By dmoffatt on Tuesday, February 22, 2011
Braeden Rigney, a former 5 year Highlander has recently accepted an offer of an NCAA Division 1 Athletic Scholarship to Canisius College in Buffalo, US beginning September 2011.

Braeden, a player with the 1991 team is the second player on this team to attain this achievement, the other being Kevin Czuczman who will begin his studies at Lake Superior State University in Michigan, also in September 2011.

After his 5 years with Grey Bruce Highlanders, Braeden played with Listowel Cyclones (2008-09) before moving to Newmarket, Ontario where he presently plays with the Newmarket Hurricanes Jr. A. Hockey Club.

Braeden is the oldest of three Rigney brothers, all past or present Highlanders.  Austin, (1993) is in his Rookie year with the Newmarket Hurricanes, while Colin (1996) currently plays on our Bantam team.  Braeden is the son of Martin & Janice of Singhampton, Ontario.

We offer Braeden our sincere congratulations, and wish him good luck in his academic and hockey future.
