Highlanders Take Silver
THe GBH Midget Highlanders return to SCTA League play after a very successful weekend in Kitchener. The Highlanders were in the Kitchener Blue Line Tournament where the squad went 3-0-1 in Round Robin play to win their pool. They followed this by wining their semi final match up and advancing to the Tournament Championship Game on Sunday.
The GBH Midgets won their pool by defeating Richmond Hill 2-1, the Toronto Marlies 2-0, tying the host Kitchener Jr Rangers 1-1 and finally defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 1-0 to clinch first place.
A semi Final game vs The Markham Waxers awaited the boys Sunday morning and they came through with a 5-3 win to advance to the championship match Sunday afternoon.
Awaiting them in the finals were the defending OHL Cup Champion Toronto Jr Canadians. The Highlanders played strong but fell to the GTHL squad 3-1 to settle for the silver medal.
Overall a great weekend for the team with all 20 players making a contribution to the Team Success.
