U13 Highlanders capture championship at Border City Memorial Cup
The U13 Grey Bruce Highlanders started the 2025-26 season strong, bringing home the championship trophy from the Border City Memorial Cup tournament in Windsor.

The team dominated round-robin play with a 4-0 record, earning victories over the Windsor Junior Spitfires, North Central Predators, St. Clair Shore Saints, and Cleveland Junior Barons.

In semi-final action, the team squared off against OMHA West rivals, the Oakville Rangers. It was a tightly contested battle, with the Highlanders clinging to a 2-1 lead late into the third period. The team added two late insurance goals to secure a 4-1 win and a spot in the championship game.

In the championship final, the Highlanders took on the OMHA East’s North Shore Whitecaps. Both teams came out strong, trading chances in a fast-paced, high-energy matchup. The Highlanders led 1-0 in the second period, and didn't look back after adding two more insurance markers in the third period, winning the championship 3-0.

Coaches and parents alike were thrilled with the team’s performance and proud of the players’ commitment, teamwork, and effort throughout the weekend.

“This was the true definition of a team win,” said Steve Taylor, Head Coach. “Each and every player bought into the game plan and stepped up to contribute to our success. We’re incredibly proud of what this group has accomplished already.”

A fantastic start to the season — let’s keep the momentum going, Highlanders!
