Fingers Crossed for the Fall!
Over the last few weeks we have seen an improvement in the COVID-19 numbers across the Province as things begin to open again.  We are hopeful that this means that organized hockey will soon resume.  This week the OHF released information about moving to phase 3 of the return to play plan which was encouraging news.

The Highlanders Executive have been working on plans to ensure that we can get back to playing as soon as we are given the go ahead from the OMHA.  We have created a detailed return to play plan which outlines what steps we have to follow to adhere to Public Health guidelines while satisfying the concerns of our municipal partners.  We are pleased that our plan was accepted and approved by Public Health.  At this point, we have received positive feedback from some of our municipal rinks as well.  We have forwarded our plan to the OMHA and are waiting the green light from our governing body.

Like many other organizations, we recognize that these are uncertain terms.  We do not know when tryouts or even a league season may occur.  We are hopeful to have our teams on the ice at the end of August but note that we may be starting with last year’s teams and with the emphasis on skills and development.  We hope that the OMHA will let us know when we are able to run tryouts and hopefully return to games and tournaments.

Please stay safe and keep your fingers crossed that we can all get back to the game!
