In the fall of 2016 GBH Major Midget, Carter Buehlow,
captained Canada's U16 National Inline Hockey team to a gold medal at the AAU
Junior Olympics in Hawaii.
Again this spring, he attended one of Team Canada's U16
cross country Inline Hockey Selection Camps for the 2017 season. Following tryouts, Carter received exciting news from the sports governing body, Canada Inline, that with a year of eligibility remaining at the U16 level, he was being moved up to the Junior Men's program and would be named an assistant team captain.
Subsequently, in late August the team traveled to Nanjing, China, where 17 nations competed for the World Roller Games Championship. Although Canada's Juniors fell short of capturing a medal, his experience in China was very memorable.
Carter began playing inline hockey at the age of six and has progressed to become one of the top ranked players in the sport. Like many North American inline hockey players, he utilizes the ice season to further develop his inline skills and therefore credits a number of ice hockey teams, along with the Highlander program in helping him progress toward his longtime goal of acquiring a Division 1 US college Inline hockey scholarship.
Carter notes that countless professional ice hockey players have greatly benefited from the strategies and skills developed on the inline floors. After playing more than 85 inline hockey games over the past summer, he is looking forward to his return with the GBH Major Midgets.
