Five Highlanders Selected in the 2016 OHL Draft!
The Grey Bruce Highlanders are thrilled to Congratulate five players from the Minor Midget team that were selected by OHL teams today. The organization is extremely proud of these players and the teammates that helped them to this achievement.

Starting the day in positive fashion, Connor Roberts was selected third overall in the first round by the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Being selected this high caps an incredible season for Roberts who also represented Canada at the Youth Olympics in Norway.  Chet Phillips of Dundalk was the next Highlander selected going to Saginaw with the first pick in the fourth round, 62nd overall.  We didn't have to wait long to hear Owen Sound native Lucas Pfeil's name called by Kitchener with the second pick in the 6th round, 103rd overall. With the 209th pick, the Peterborough Petes selected Brendan Cederberg from Thornbury in the eleventh round. In the fourteenth round with the 270th pick the Sault Saint Marie Greyhounds selected Shelburne's Zackary Trott.

This is the most players the Highlanders have had drafted since 2007 when there were 6 players selected. Roberts from Owen Sound,  became the highest Highlander draft pick ever!

We would like to congratulate these players. Thank-you for demonstrating your Highlander pride over the last few seasons.  Good luck as you move forward in your hockey careers!
