Congratulations Kyle Betts!
Submitted By Hugh Morrison on Thursday, December 10, 2015
Highlander alumni Kyle Betts, has been selected to represent Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge to be held on Dec 13-19, 2015.   Coburg and Whitby are co hosts of the Challenge which is being held in Ontario for the first time in its 10 year history.

Kyle, a product of Flesherton Minor Hockey, played for Highlanders on our 1997 Minor Midget and Major Midget teams.  Kyle was selected in the OHL draft after his first year of Major Midget, however, decided to pursue the scholastic hockey option and played for the Waterloo Siskins Junior B team last season.  After an impressive rookie campaign, Kyle was rewarded with a scholarship to Cornell University for the 2017-18 season.  To further his development, Kyle moved to the BCJHL this season with the Powell River Kings.  He currently sits 3rd in team scoring in addition to his strong defensive play. Kyle has also signed a letter of intent to attend Cornell.

Wishing Kyle all the best at the upcoming Challenge.
