Groundhog Day Comes Early
With road trips Friday and Saturday having identical results, followed by a tough home game Sunday, the peewees must have felt like they were stuck in the Groundhog Day movie.
Grey-Bruce traveled to Oakville Friday night only to then turn around and head to Burlington on Saturday. The game reports sounded like an early groundhog day report as the boys had a Friday 2-1 loss, goal by Matt Gill followed by a Saturday 2-1 loss, goal by Matt Gill. Both games also had early 2-0 leads by the opposition followed by attempted third period Highlander comebacks. Assists to Freiburger(Fri) and O'Donnell(Sat). The boys outworked their opponents Friday but couldn't get the breaks and then Saturday they couldn't find the net often enough despite having numerous powerplay chances. Good work guys, keep working hard.
Sunday brought the mighty Tigers from Welland to Chesley. The Highlanders would hold them to a 1-0 lead after the first but the Tigers would pounce on every opportunity to widen the margin as the game went along, with three Welland players accounting for almost the entire point total.
Get it going again this weekend as we return to Niagara Saturday and Rangers ride into town on Sunday.
