14th annual Border City Cup.
The weekend of Oct 8-10th, the Bantam Highlanders participated in the 14th annual Border City Cup held at the WFCU facility.
Highlanders started out the tournament strong against the Ohio Jr Blue Jackets with a 2-0 lead going into the third period on scoring from Ben Scheel. Ohio however was to come back with 2 goals in the third. the game went into a shootout, where we lost.
the first three games vs Ohio, Quinte and Windsor could have gone either way, basically all one goal games.
Finishing out, we played the West Dundee Leafs a team from northwest Chicago, a tough opponent who was to lose in the semifinals to Oakville; the eventual tournament winner. While watching this game several of the Oakville players standing behind me commented "Grey Bruce is a good team, a lot better this year"
Scoring leaders for the tournament were Ben Scheel, Braden Boley and Robert White.
