Minor Bantam's go 1 - 3 at Marlies Tournament
The Dan Rear Lawn Service Minor Bantam Highlanders travelled to Toronto over the holidays to participate in the Toronto Marlies Holiday Classic.
Game 1 saw the squad meet the Mississauga Rebels in a rematch from the Hamilton tournament finals. Unfortunately, Grey Bruce came out flat and fell 4 - 0. Game 2 saw the 3rd ranked team in Ontario, the York Simcoe Express, meet up with the Highlanders. In a much better effort, the Minor Bantams fell 4 - 1. Up next, the Highlanders met the Amherst Knights. Starting slow, the squad fell behind 3 - 1, but stormed back for a convincing 8 - 3 victory. In their final match, the Highlanders met up with 7th ranked London. The squad played with London for the first half of the game but a few costly mistakes cost the team untimely goals by the Jr Knights. The final score ended up 6 - 1 London. Although the record for the tournament didn't show it, the team showed with hard work, focus and desire, they can play with anyone! Stay focused and keep up the good work!
