January Update!
After a busy holiday and a well deserved off-week the AM Contracting Atom Highlanders got back to work entering the new year in "play-off' season.

Continuing with high paced practiced and a focus toward specialty teams,  the team has collectively put forth some of their best hockey this season.  The Atom team hosted Niagara North Stars on January 14 for a double header, after a tremendous effort against the number 2 seed the AM contracting Atom team fell short. Next on the agenda were 2 games in back to back days with a 3rd seeded Brampton team that has slowing been making their way up the standings.  The Atoms were very determined to continue their great play.  On Saturday the Atoms played in a very emotional game managing a 4-2 win with goaltender Cameron Carney making some solid saves between the pipes.  The following day the Atom team knew that the Brampton team would not take the loss lightly.   Falling behind 2-0 early,  the atoms slowly chipped away at the Brampton team.  The Dukeshire-Kerr-Riddell line got the score within 1 late in the second period after some great forechecking efforts. Early in the third,  the Atkinson-Kruiderink-Beitz line struck with a nice tip in play knot the score at 2.  Then with 4 minutes left to play the Doherty-Watt-Toth line pressed and potted the winner for a 3-2 score.  The Defensive team of Brown, Reay, Mead, Brown, Allen and Holding held down our defensive zone with some spectacular play and Goaltender Alex Driscoll made some key saves to earn the win.  Great team effort! Next on the schedule is Saturday January 27th when the Atom team hosts the Oakville Rangers. Game time is 2pm.
