For the first time in a few years, the Grey Bruce Highlanders will be icing a AAA Atom team and the kids added to this roster couldn’t be more eager to play. With training camp wrapping up and two exhibition games against the North Central Predators completed the squad is hungry for the regular season to begin this Saturday in Chesley at noon. With 15 skaters and 2 goalies the GBH Atoms bring Grey and Bruce counties together to compete in the South Central Hockey League playing against nine teams that take them from Brampton to Buffalo. The regular season consists of 36 games as they play each opponent four times.
The Atoms also have three tournaments this fall traveling to Newmarket, Kitchener and Hamilton before the Christmas break.
The team has found tremendous support from local businesses through player sponsorships and Major Team Sponsor A.M Contracting and Mark Brown. Team and player sponsorships help make the dream of playing AAA hockey a reality for these kids and is greatly appreciated.
