Major Bantams vs Southern Tier Admirals - RS Game#1
The Grey Bruce Major Bantam Highlanders kicked of their 2015/16 campaign with a double header in Port Colborne against the always strong Southern Tier Admirals on September 20th.

The Highlanders team made a number of player changes in the offseason and optimism was high as the coaches got their first chance to see what their new team could do.

It was obvious from the onset that these teams were very evenly matched as they traded chances throughout the first half of the first period.  Matthew Donnelly made several key saves and was matched by the Admirals goalie at the other end. STA were able to break the ice midway through the period, scoring on a two on one.  This seemed only to inspire the Highlanders as they stormed back with three goals of their own in the frame.  Cam Lightfoot scored the first on the powerplay with assists going to Cody Marles and Kip Wilson.  Cam scored again a few minutes later with assists going to Joshua Lorenz and Cody Marles.  Keegan Foster capped the first period onslaught firing one home from a great pass from Tyson Lina.

STA showed why they are always a team to be reckoned with by taking the play to GBH early in the second.  They were rewarded with a second goal midway through the frame to close to within a goal headed to the intermission.

Early in the third, Emmett Sproule scored to regain a two goal lead for the 'Landers with assists going to Tyson Lina and Kip Wilson.  The boys continued to carry the play until late in the third when the Admirals scored to narrow the gap to 4-3 on a powerplay of their own.  Late in the third, STA pulled their goalie and rallied to push an equalizer past a screened Matthew Donnelly in the Highlander goal.  The game finished 4-4 and was an exciting way to begin the season.
