Toronto Red Wings Early Bird Tournament
The Minor Bantam Highlanders travelled to Toronto to take part in the Red Wings Early Bird Tournament.   This would be the teams first official test of the new season in a large field of 35 2002 AAA teams.  Most of the big boys were in attendance so the boys would have to be at their best to have success.

The goal of every tournament is to be still standing on the Sunday with a chance to play extra games.  The Highlanders succeeded in that goal by finishing 2-2 in the round robin and advancing to the consolation field of 8 teams on Sunday.  This field of 8 was not too shabby with defending OMHA champs Oakville 1 and OHF Finalists Eastern Ontario Wild included in it.

Unfortunately, the boys run ended Sunday morning with a tough loss vs. Quinte.  A very positive weekend to kick start the season.  The team proved to all that when they are prepared to play they can compete with some of the top teams in the Province.

Game Results.

6-0 Win VS. Ajax/Pickering Raiders

5-1 Loss vs. Don Mills Flyers

2-1 Loss vs. Oakville Rangers 1

4-1 Win vs. Nickel City Sons

6-0 Loss vs. Quinte Red Devils
