A Long...Cold...Hard...October Week for the Minor Bantams
The Highlander Minor Bantams had a busy week with two weeknight games in Away Rinks and a Doubleheader  at Home last weekend.  The team came away in the wrong side of the win column overall but did manage to get 1 W in the 4 games.

A trip to Brampton on a Friday night to finish out Thanksgiving week proved to be too long of a drive for our players who came out flat and found the big ice surface to be more than they could cope with leaving with a 6 to 0 defeat.

The rest on Saturday did our players good as they came out on fire against the Buffalo Regals in the first game of a doubleheader at our home arena on Sunday. The final score showed the Highlanders coming out on the winning end of a 4 to 2 game.  Goal scorers were Nathan Ahrens, Joshua Lorenz (2) and Cody Marles. Of note, was an empty net goal to finish the third period which was assisted by our awesome goalie Matthew Donnelly who proved he can help put them in the net as well as keep them out of ours.

The finale in the doubleheader against the Regals found the Highlanders trailing 5 to 1 going into the third period. The Minor Bantams found their second wind and put on their rally caps but came up short with a final score of 6 to 3. Goals scored by Bryce Steele (his first as a Highlander), Cam Lightfoot and Jerrid Fossold.

A special shout out to the 10th St. Diner who catered a meal for the Highlander and Regals players and families between games. The food was amazing!  Thanks to Jason and Lori Fossold and their family!

The week was rounded out by another trip to the city to meet the Oakville Rangers on Tuesday night. The Rangers came out with something to prove since the Highlanders pulled off an upset victory in their last meeting. Although, the Highlanders fought hard they again came away in the “L” column with a 3 to 0 loss.

“No rest for the wicked” is our motto as the Minor Bantams now go into a weekend with another home doubleheader where they will meet Southern Tier on Saturday and a trip to Hamilton on Sunday.
