Minor Bantam Team Starting to Gel
The Grey Bruce Highlander Minor Bantam team arrived in Chesley to play three full periods of excellent hockey today.  After a disappointing showing in their last few games, the players clearly skated onto the ice with a new attitude and the intent to show Oakville who owns the ice in Chesley.

Armed with the sage advice from their coaches that scoring the first goal was to be their plan of attack, Cam Lightfoot on a pass from Cody Marles answered the call with a goal half way through the first period. The crowd went wild cheering for their Highlanders and this momentum would keep the game at a 1 to 0 score heading into the third period. Early in the third, the home team delighted their fans again with an exciting goal by Tyler Karl with the assist going to Lightfoot. The Oakville Rangers would answer with a goal of their own in the third but the Highlanders could not be stopped today. With the thought of a win strong in their hearts and perhaps turkey and pumpkin pie calling their names, the Highlanders were unstoppable. A third goal came off of a shot from Xander Watt from the point. The final minute brought the fans to their feet as Jerrid Fossold buried an empty net goal to finish the game.

We know that this is just the beginning for our Minor Bantam team who looked more like that amazing team that beat the first place Hamilton team last year in the SCTA Qualifier.  With at home doubleheaders scheduled for the next two weekends, our Highlanders are going to be ready to show Buffalo and Southern Tier who is boss in Chesley.
