Biermans Minor Midgets Strong at the RBC Cup
Twenty three games into the season and the Biermans Minor Midgets are getting a taste of the consistency needed to be successful at the best game on earth....

Putting together three periods of quality hockey has been a difficult task over the last two months but a good showing in the recent Dale Parker Memorial RBC Cup in Brantford proved that the boys have what it takes.

Ending up first in our pool of 6 teams, the Biermans squad battled back from a poor tournament start where Windsor capitalized to a 6-1 win.

Shaking off the travel legs, the next three games were to the Highlanders favour as the team dug down deep, worked hard and put together three straight wins over Ajax/Pickering, Brantford, and the Canadian International Hockey Academy.

The quarter final game against the Don Mills Flyers proved to be the hardest game yet as the Highlanders hung on to a 1-0 lead for most of the second and third periods. The Highlanders forecheck, defensive plays and goaltending were strong and relentless, preventing the Flyers from getting on the scoreboard. Outworking their opponents and with two goals waved off and a few posts, the Highlanders kept the pressure on. However, with only 1:03 left in the third, Don Mills netted one to tie the game and force OT. The four on four OT ended in a tie, resulting in the teams to go three a side. Don Mills ended up getting the final tally over the goal line and end the Grey Bruce run for the RBC cup.

Despite the quarter final loss, the team demonstrated that they are contenders and have the work ethic to play as a team for a full game. Great job boys. Now, lets go to work in the SCTA.

Next up for the Highlanders Minor Midgets are the Burlington Eagles on Saturday Nov 16 at 3:30 in Chesley. After that we travel to Oakville on Nov 17 to take on the Rangers.
