The Chapman's Ice Cream Minor PeeWee's Gearing Up For The Home Stretch.
With 10 games to go, and a 3 week break due to weather, the Minor PeeWees's are back at it Sat. against the Oakville Rangers. This will be one of the biggest tests of the season for the Highlanders.  As one of the top teams in the Province, the Highlanders have played Oakville very tough in each of the first 3 meetings. Saturday will be the final meeting until the year end tournament.  It will set the tone for the final games.

The Highlanders will enter the final 10 games having lost just once in their previous 9 games. This stretch had propelled them up to third in the league, and currently they sit 6th as other teams have passed them while we waited for the snow to stop. Over the final stretch, Oakville is the only opponent with a greater winning percentage than this Highlander team.

All year, this Highlander team has played a very strong defensive game.  Backed by excellent goaltending, the Highlanders play a very strong five man unit behind our own blue line.  Hardly, does this team give up a second scoring chance off a rebound.  Offensively, at the start of the season, this team seemed to have the worst luck around the opposition net.  Several games, the Highlanders would find themselves winning on the shot clock by a wide margin.  However the score board was much tighter.  This seems to be changing.  Over the last several games, the Highlanders are creating many excellent scoring chances and with that, come some favourable bounces that weren't there at the start of the season.  This is a result of the many hours of hard work by the boys during our spirited, up tempo practices.

Over the final few weeks, each opponent will be at the top of their game as everyone is looking to improve their seeding for the final weekend. With nine games against teams below us, it will be important for these Highlanders to not take anyone for granted and take advantage of the glorious opportunity presented.

Each time out, you can see an improvement with this team. Hopefully, everyone can perform their role as best they can and come prepared for each game remaining as the season winds down.
