Saturday on Chesley home ice, the Biermans Bantams came out to play, out-shooting their Oakville Ranger opponents 33-14.

Applying the pressure early, Jordan Caskenette (Owen Sound) would slide the puck in the corner of the net with assistance from his linemates Justin Donnelly (Pinkerton) and Devin Perdue (Hanover). Just two minutes later, Brent West (Shallow Lake) would take it to the Ranger net with the help of Logan Freiburger (Arran-Elderslie) to take a two goal lead. The Highlanders would control the remainder of the first period keeping the shots against to a minimum. The second period would see the Biermans boys maintain their two goal lead until the three minute mark, when the Rangers would narrow the gap by a goal. Following the intermission break the Rangers would come out looking for a tie, and that they would get. Not wanting to give up their well deserved 2 points, the Highlanders would find their game again, and put the Ranger netminder to the test. Finally, at the six minute mark, Brady Becker (Durham) would put the game winner in the mesh, from heads up passing of linemates Justin McCrae (Owen Sound) and Tyler Sutter (Chatsworth). A 3-2 score would be the final at the buzzer with the Highlanders taking 2 points. Jason Goes (Cookstown) played solid in net for the home team.

A Sunday night game in Burlington would see the Highlanders go home empty handed. Falling behind 2-0 early in the first would force the Grey Bruce boys to dig deep for a comeback. Early in the second period, Becker would make a wrap-around move to take his second goal of the weekend, slicing the Eagle's lead to 2-1. The Highlanders would finish the game outshooting their hosts 21-16 with goalie Tristen Lewis (Saugeen Shores) seeing the puck and playing well for his team.  Although many opportunities came their way, the Grey Bruce lads would not get passed the wings of the Eagle netminder, seeing a final score of 2-1 for the Eagles.

The Biermans Major Bantams will host the Halton Hurricanes in Chesley next Saturday and will travel to Hamilton on Sunday to play the league leading team, the Hamilton Bulldogs.
