Highlanders Gain 4 of Possible 6 Points
Written by:  The Trainer
A busy weekend it was as your Scandinave Grey Bruce Highlanders played 3 games in 3 days. First game, Saturday at home, was against the top seeded Hamilton Jr Bulldogs. This was a dog fight right to the end as both teams battled back and forth. Hamilton would open the scoring in the first before Grey-Bruce tied it up early in the second with a canonizing slapper from the point by Austin Vanwyck, assist Connor Roberts.

With the score all square at 2 a piece mid way through the third, on a Highlander goal by Roberts from Hayden Coulter, you knew it could’ve gone either way. Unfortunately the Bulldogs would get a lucky dribbler that Lucas Pfeil never saw and they would skate back to the dog park with the win.
Final Score Hamilton 3 Highlanders 2

Second game on Sunday also at home against the Welland Southern Tier Admirals was not quite as even. These two teams played close games all year but this time the Admirals vessel hit an iceberg and started taking on water early in the first period. Two highlander hat tricks , one by Brendan "The Iceberg" Cederberg and the other by Zachary Trott put the Highlanders in a commanding lead before Hayden Coulter made sure the Admirals would go down with their ship with one more cinder block late in the third. Assists on the goals went to Chet Phillips(2)Roberts(2),Coulter,Marlowe and Verbeek.
Final Score Highlanders 7 Admirals 1

A rare Monday nighter had the Black and Red travel to Guelph. It was a foggy drive down Highway 6 and the fog must have gotten in the arena as the referee missed some obvious calls. Some questionable hits and non-calls followed by some undeniable hometown refereeing had the Highlander bench foot stomping mad; enough to put out small fires. Not a team to be intimidated, the visitors played their usual disciplined game and the Storm was downgraded to a summer breeze as the good guys would win on goals by Marlowe and Trott who combined for two apiece and one by Roberts to make it a convincing victory. Helpers for the goals went to Verbeek (3), Trott, Marlowe, Coulter and Cederberg.
Final Score Grey-Bruce 5 Breeze 1
