Regals Run Over Highlanders
written by:  The Trainer

Your Scandinave Grey Bruce Highlanders loaded up the buggies and headed to wine country for a double header against the Buffalo Regals. After a tournament championship in Kitchener the week prior, the boys felt good about their game. The first game was played in Fort Erie and at the drop of the puck it was clear the team left their mojo somewhere between Kitchener and home as nothing seemed to go right.

Coming out flatter than week old soda didn’t help things either. Second on the puck, standing around, awful passing, and no physical play was not a recipe for a win. The only bright spots of this game were the two Brendan Cederberg goals, the first from Hayden Coulter and Connor Roberts and the second on a textbook drop pass from Roberts that Cederberg snapped glove side. Assist also going to Zach Vokes. The stellar goaltending of Lucas Pfiel kept this game within reach but the dirty hits, countless stick work and otherwise "Mike Peca" type hockey seemed to throw the Highlanders off their game.
Final Score-Regals 3 Highlanders 2

After a 2 hour break, the Grey Bruce Highlanders knew they had to be better in Game two at the Gale Centre. Would our boys answer the bell? Unfortunately the answer was no. A slightly better but still slow start saw the Regals get an early 1 goal lead at the first intermission. They would get two more in the second before Alex Rico would retrieve a pass from Brayden McKenzie, turn on the jets and streak down the left hand side and knife a beauty into the back of the net to give the visitors some life. Shortly after that Brendan Cederberg got his 3rd goal of the afternoon on a timely wrap around that closed the gap within one with a helper going to linemate Connor Roberts. But it was to no avail, the Buffalo Regals would get the next one and time ran out. Friendly banter between the fans was the only excitement of these games and with an odor of Buffalo dung wafting through the late night air a frustrated Highlander team headed North.
Final Score-Buffalo 4 Grey Bruce 2
