Clean Sweep In Kitchener
written by:  The Trainer
Your Grey Bruce PeeWee Highlanders travelled to their first tournament of the season.  It was the Kitchener Blueline Tournament and the team was eager to find out how they would measure up.
Game 1 on Friday was against a team they see during the regular season, The Burlington Eagles. By the time this game was over there would be nothing left but feathers as the Highlanders soared over the Eagles on their way to a 6-1 win.

Game 2 was a battle with the Windsor Spitfires. It would be the Highlanders that flew high in this game as they shot down the sputtering spitfires by a 3-1 score.
Game 3 on Saturday was a contest involving the Sun County Panthers. While not exactly sure where Sun County was located, one thing for certain was that these panthers had more bark than bite as they were beat by a 4-0 margin.
Game 4 would prove to be a tougher game against their old foe the Brampton 45’s . As expected the Brampton team came out hard but the Highlanders were now in a groove and shelved the 45’s on their way to a 4-3 win. Game 5 was the semi-final. Huron Perth Lakers were the opponent and everyone expected a tight game. The match was back and forth and a bit of a nail biter at times but the Highlanders prevailed with a 3-2 win and the Lakers set their sails for home.
Game 6, The Final. Grey-Bruce vs. Kitchener. This tilt started out about even, but as the game progressed it would be the Black and White that were shooting straight on their way to a sixth straight tournament win and the Championship with a 7-1 romping over the hometown Rangers.  During the medal presentations, #10-Connor Roberts of Owen Sound was named the Pee Wee MVP of all the teams in the Pee Wee division.

The game sheets will tell you the goals and assists, and there were plenty of both. But what is not reflected on those score sheets is how each individual did whatever necessary to win this tournament for the team. The tenacious fore checks, the tireless back checking, the blocked shots that left their marks, taking hard checks to make the play, the timely and rock solid saves in net, fighting through the pain, the discipline, the blood, the sweat and the tears. It all added up to a well deserved team victory. Grey Bruce PeeWee Highlanders 2012 Kitchener Blueline Champs.

Next Game vs. Buffalo Saturday Nov 17
