Highlanders Put Halt To Hurricanes
With a disappointing effort against Brampton on Saturday our Power Workers’ Union Minor PeeWee Highlanders knew they did not play their best game. At this level bringing your best to every game is a must. With the drop of the puck you could see the intensity level was there. The Hurricanes were able to get on the scoreboard first on a lucky bounce. In the second period at 10:37, with some strong fore checking by Tyson Lina, he worked the puck out to Nathan Ahrens who would feed Will Black in the slot to tie the game. It was with hard work again that the Highlanders were awarded another goal, with a scramble in front of the net, Josh Lorenz picked up a loose puck to score with the assist going to Mark Aljoe. The Highlanders take the 2-1 lead.

A minute and a half later, the Hurricanes answered back to tie the game. The Highlanders gained some momentum shortly after, when Aljoe won the draw back to Sam Bye at the point, who found the back of the net. The Hurricanes managed one more goal to end the second period 3-3.

The Hurricanes went ahead 4-3 at 10:47 of the third. Responding four minutes later, Aljoe snapped a wrist shot to beat the Hurricanes goaltender, assisted by Lina and Cam Lighfoot to tie the game 4-4. With both teams battling for the puck, three minutes later, the Hurricanes replied with another. With the game, 5-4 Hurricanes and less than a minute on the clock, the Highlanders pulled our goalie to gain an attacker. With 25 seconds remaining Aljoe won the draw to Hutcheson, his shot was blocked. Black rifled a shot hitting the goalie in the mask. The puck went behind the net, Aljoe picked it up and got a quick shot from the side of the net. The game ends 5-5.

Excellent game! With such a huge effort from the entire team, this game was an exciting one to watch! Keep up the intensity boys!
