Sunday’s schedule had the Minor Midgets playing a double header against the Niagara Rivermen in Markdale.  McLelland opened the scoring 1:15 into the game on a tipped point shot from Connor Shaw (Elmwood), assisted by Quinten Bruce (Grand Valley).  Grey Bruce opened up the scoring in the 2nd period scoring 3 more goals before Niagara scored their first.  The Highlanders were able to score 1 more before the 2nd period buzzer sounded.  Scoring for Grey Bruce was Reid Simmons(Hepworth), McLelland, Rigney, and Shaw, assists going to Boley (2), Richards (Chesley), Rigney, White, Hunter, Robertson, and Simmons.  Simmons rounded out the scoring in the 3rd on his unassisted goal to give the Minor Midgets a 6-1 victory.  Malcolm Young(Orangeville) played all 45 minutes in net.

The second game of the day resulted in a 5-2 win for the Highlanders.  Quinten Bruce scored 3 straight goals, assists going to Hunter (2), Rigney(2), Shaw, and White. Shaw, assisted by Reid, scored the Highlanders' 4th goal before Niagara scored their first in the 2nd period with just under 6 minutes remaining.  The Rivermen narrowed the gap to 2 after another goal in the 3rd period.  The Highlanders scored the final goal of the game on a nice passing play, scored by Alex Riehl(Mount Forest), assisted by McLelland  and Shaw.  Harron played all 45 minutes in net.

It was great to end their final home games of the season on a winning note.  Next up for the Minor Midgets is this Saturday afternoon in Niagara against the Rivermen, and Sunday night against the Oakville Rangers.
